Luxury houses
I think it's Donald Trump.
But someone else plans on building an even bigger house and sell it for the most money a house has ever sold for.
You know how the rich are
Always trying to out do one another in bragging rights.
A long time ago I hob nobbed with the rich and behind the scenes high society and I witnessed them going to extremes to out do the other guy by buying something just as gaudy and paying way more money for it.
A guy I knew showed me some art he had just purchassed,a painting he had hanging on his living room wall.
He told me he paid (I can't remember the exact amount) something like $32,000.00 for it and I said "But it's ugly, why would you spend so much money on something that's not even worth looking at?"
And you know what he said? He said that a friend of his just purchassed one and paid $27,000.00 and he couldn't let him get away with that so he had to buy one that cost more money. He said it didn't have anything to do with what it looked like but had everything to do with bragging rights.
He said "So who ever brags the most, wins." and since he paid more for his painting that entitled him to brag even more.
So no matter who has the biggest house there's always some rich fool that's going to want an even bigger one so he can tell all the world that his house cost more and is the biggest.
Personally I think it's disgusting how they throw their money around.
They make a mockery out of money that they made through the exploitation of other people just so they can turn around and waste it on ugly art.

Luxury houses
Probably around 400,000 dollars if not more, things are pricey there, if you already have the land you are off to a good start, although 2500 sq ft is not very large.
I lived in that area, and it has really gone up in price.

Victorian houses Thinking of buying a victorian house, being so old they have loads of character, but problems too.
Thanks chillout
Yes, go for it.
Make sure you always keep the original features when doing work to it.
Also, the walls don't have a cavity so ALWAYS use lime mortar and NEVER cement. If you do, you will trap moisture in the house. Also, make sure the ground level around the house is 150mm (6 inch) or more below the floor, if not more.
If you do that, you will enjoy the house for many years to come.

Victorian houses
The American Renaissance was the time of the mid-nineteenth century through the l920’s and 30’s when architects produced this country’s finest quality homes that were inspired by the magnificent “period” styles gotten from Greco-Roman and Gothic designs. Displayed by masters of the day, Carrere and Hastings, H. H. Richardson, McKim, Mead and White, and Hunt, architecture was shown in designs ranging from classic to eclectic or combinations of several styles, and thus evidenced originality and creativity either way.

cottage houses My wife received this offer in the mail and the money looks pretty good. Any thoughts? I tried every search engine I could think of but could not find a lot of info. That's what worries me.
